The Love Story Begins: A Wedding Video in North Carolina

Hunter & I actually met in middle school. I do not remember the specific encounter where we first met. Our friendship grew stronger as we progressed into high school. I always knew Hunter was a great friend, always there in a bind and willing to lend a helping hand. However, it wasn’t until our senior year of high school, when reality hit me that we were about to split ways, that I realized my feelings strongly surpassed the friendship level.

Hunter proposed in January of 2012, four and a half years after we started dating. I knew it would probably happen within a year of when it did, but I was not 100% sure. We were at Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina for the weekend. We had our entire weekend planned out: spa day complete with massages, dinners on the Terrace, and more. The first night we were there, one of my sorority sisters texted me saying “I hope you get engaged this weekend!” Hunter saw the text and convinced me that we were no where near that step. I fell asleep quite brokenhearted. The next day, we woke up and went to the spa, as planned. Hunter treated me to an 80-minute massage of my choice and it was heavenly. That night, we were getting ready for dinner. I heard him slip out of the room to “get ice” but thought nothing of it. On the way to dinner, we passed another room in the historic inn and Hunter got a key out. He opened the door and I gasped at what I saw. The entire room was covered in rose petals, with the exception of a path that led to a chair. There were candles lit around the room and on a pedestal on a table beside the chair was a box. He took my hand and led me to the chair. He dropped down on one knee and asked me to spend my life with him! I, of course, said “yes” and immediately follow with the question “did you ask my Dad?!” Thankfully, he did.

Tell us what part of your wedding planning you are most proud of.

We are most proud that our wedding, down to the smallest detail was extremely representative of who we are. Ever since I can remember, I have been obsessed with skeleton keys. So, I knew I wanted to tie that in. Hunter is very outdoorsy and loves pictures and decorations of trees. So, our theme was keys and trees. This was displayed in our beverage napkins, our favors, our invitations/thank yous, the bridesmaid jewelry, our centerpieces, and even our escort cards. We always say that the one thing we are glad we did, was make it 100% what we wanted.

We got married at Hunter’s grandmother’s church, which was very special to us since his grandparents got married there as well. Central United Methodist is in the heart of Downtown Concord and we could not imagine getting married anywhere else! Our cocktail hour, dinner, and reception followed at Cabarrus Country Club.

We had two bands that were booked through the agency I work for, Green Dot Music. These bands got everyone on the dance floor and made our reception one for the books! Live entertainment is so important when it comes to a wedding and it’s definitely something I would never skimp on!

What made you want to use the WeddingMix app and HD cameras?

We were excited to use WeddingMix because it was important for us to see our big day from the guests view point. We got to captured our highlights of our wedding from the guests point of view, which was priceless to us.

The most memorable part of our entire day for me was walking up behind my dad, him looking at me, and us crying and embracing in those seconds before our special walk. Then, seeing Hunter’s face as we walked towards him is something I will never forget. We also practiced for month’s on a first dance that we could be proud of. We did a mash-up to “Make You Feel My Love'” by Adele and “Suit and Tie” by Justin Timberlake that started off with an romantic bolero, and transitioned into a fun, hip-hop!
