First and foremost, I want to say that I am so glad my husband and I choose to use WeddingMix to help capture our day. The entire day was such a blissful blur! I honestly had no idea what our ceremony space actually looked like until I saw the video! Having the wedding video makes me feel like I got to experience my wedding from my guests point of view.

The love story:

My husband, Andrew and I were together for more that 6 years when we got engaged. We actually met in high school, and we were best friends before we ever began a romantic relationship. Together, we made it through college, moving, me going to law school, and much more. By the time we decided to tie the knot, we knew that we wanted our wedding to be a celebration!

What was a wedding must?

From the very beginning of wedding planning, we knew that we wanted our big day to reflect our taste and preferences. We aimed for a modern-elegant wedding with a party atmosphere. Our color scheme was simply and elegant black and white. There was also striped accents to give the space a more modern feel. Our flowers were all white, and lots of candlelight was incorporated into the decor to make the ambiance modern yet romantic.

As far as wedding planning went, I did everything myself. Of course I had pinspiration, but it was important to me that our wedding was a reflection of us rather than just a cookie-cutter wedding. I wanted to include a lot of personal touches. From the guest welcome bags to various signs and decorations, I wanted our guests to get a personalized experience. We even had large cutouts of our dogs as props for the photobooth! Of course, I had a lot of help from friends and family to pull everything together (my 80 year old grandmother made all of the accent table linens!).

So what sold you on a Houston wedding? 

As a couple, my husband and I very much enjoy good food and the city atmosphere. It was important to us that we share that with our guests. Houston holds a special place in our hearts, and the Magnolia Hotel-Houston was the perfect venue. It’s in the heart of downtown, and has a great modern decor. When we first toured the venue, I fell in love with all of the great photo-ops! The reception space featured a wall of windows that looked into the city, and there was an amazing rooftop deck that my husband and I got to use for photographs!

How did WeddingMix make your day special?

While I was planning my wedding, a lot of former brides told me one major thing they regretted leaving out of their big day was a wedding video. It’s easy for a future bride to dismiss the importance of a video. You don’t think you need it, because you’re getting so many pictures (plus videographers are SO EXPENSIVE). But as one of my friends said, “I just wish I had a video of our wedding so that I could show my kids someday”. That’s what really made me start looking into wedding video options.

I was so happy to see the WeddingMix option on Pinterest! Admittedly, I worried about the quality of the footage and forcing my bridal party to play paparazzi all night. However, they seemed to have a lot of fun with it and I now have video footage of the best day of my life. I was also lucky enough to have a wedding coordinator that didn’t mind filling in on video-duties. Overall, I don’t think I would change a thing with our wedding, and I can relive it as many times as I want by watching my WeddingMix wedding video!
