Guest Post: Storymix Media Bride – Shelley Heavens

Today we’re featuring a post from one of our WeddingMix brides,  Shelley Heavens, who’s having a fabulous activity-packed wedding weekend in September. Shelley, her fiance, and all their loved ones are creating and capturing all their special wedding moments with the WeddingMix app & cameras. Their best moments will be transformed into the couple’s crazy awesome DIY wedding video!

We hope you enjoy her point of view as she tells us more about the journey to the altar, or in this case perhaps, the trail to family.

Living on the North Shore of Lake Superior is highlighted by amazing sunsets, an abundance of fishing, cottage country, sandy beaches, and plenty of trails for hiking, and biking which attracts most of the tourists that we get in the summer months in our province of Ontario.

Rustic weddings can take place on farms, in barns, in backyards and like our upcoming wedding; at a rural and simple Ontarian fishing resort called Bass Lake Resort (Bruce Mines Ontario).

Having grown up spending his summers at his parent’s family camp business on Bass Lake, my fiancé introduced me to the truly naturalistic and simplicity of Bass Lake Resort, Bruce Mines Ontario. After spending many vacations and long weekends there, in our seven years being together, we soon came to realize that this is where we wanted to plan our own lakeside rustic wedding celebration; a place where our guests can bring their fishing gear, sneakers, and swimsuits to relax and enjoy the entire Labour Day weekend with us.

Celebrating our special day with 40 of our closest friends and immediate family, Bass Lake Resort will host our ceremony and reception venue where our rustic chic wedding truly will have a magical feel about it. From a simple non-religious ceremony taking place over-looking the lake, (which sounds just heavenly to us since we both enjoy hearing the wind whistling within the trees, or the sounds of loons calling with an occasional splash of our Northern Walleye) finishing off with ourrustic outdoor reception of BBQ style cuisine, live music, campfires, stories & s’mores, fireworks and plenty of laughter. The most amazing part is that Storymix Media will be right there with us to capture memories from our rustic wedding weekend 🙂
