How to Build a Wedding Caricature
Storymix blogger bride Shelley Heavens returns with a big smile as she tells us how to incorporate caricatures into a wedding without getting a big head. She’s getting married this Sunday, can’t wait to see all the details in action!
I wanted to add a bit of comic elements to our rustic wedding weekend so the thought of a caricature drawing came to light when I was once more surfing my favorite website (ETSY!). After all, a CARICATURE is a representation of a person that is exaggerated for comic effect in its entire definition. How fitting!
I contacted one of the artists on Etsy, Helen (the artist). After communicating with her, and sending her pictures, our digital couple photo was created. It is the perfect way to highlight a lovely couple and in my case, my finance Joseph and I.
My plan is to use our Caricature Couple photo framed to complement the guest sign-in table at our rustic wedding reception. I was so pleased with the result of Helen’s talent, that we chatted more and planned another caricature drawing.
This time, she took on the challenge of drawing the entire wedding party with our 3 doggies! I absolutely love it! Helen has incorporated each person’s unique personality in the photo. In fact, every time I look at it, I see something new each time. Our wedding party is super thrilled and what a great keepsake for all of them.
I took it a step further and Helen not only created a digital version, but she also master-pieced a pastel 18 x 24 drawing that Joseph and I will be able to enjoy for years to come that we will get professionally framed.
Caricatures make a great memory for any couples wedding day and it’s the perfect way and (oh sooo original) to honor our wedding party 🙂
