How Much of My Wedding Ceremony Do I Actually Want to Watch in a Wedding Video???
In my last post about how to direct a wedding video you’ll actually want to watch, I gave you an overview of scenes to include. This week I’m going to go more in depth about the ceremony. If you really want a wedding video to watch every year on your anniversary, it’s important to keep the overall length of the video to under half an hour. You are simply not likely to sit through a 2 hour wedding video – ever – let alone watch it again every year. With WeddingMix, you get a copy of all your raw footage, so that make’s it a bit easier to keep the edited video down to the key moments.
If your wedding was anything like mine, the ceremony was about an hour long. It was awesome and I hope to remember it always. Here is what truly stands out in my mind about my own ceremony:
- Walking down the aisle in anticipation of sharing the rest of my life with my best friend
- The ringbearer and flower girl fussing with each other
- The church absolutely ablaze with flowers (I purposely planned our wedding for the first Saturday after Easter)
- The ceremony being delayed because my dress was wrinkled; so a groomsmen was caught doing a mad dash with a steam iron
- The biggest smile on my face – throughout the entire ceremony
- My uncle singing Ave Maria
- Mr. Storymix flubbing the vows a tiny bit
- And nearly tackling him in the biggest kiss in the universe!
Everybody’s list is unique. But that’s what makes it so much fun to direct your video. You can include the parts most important to you. Even though my ceremony was amazing, it’s more fun to watch the key highlights in a 5 minute section of the overall video, rather than trying to fast forward through the in-between parts. What unique touches are most important for you to capture from your wedding ceremony?
