3 Quick Tips to Sound Like a Pro When Filming an Interview
Want to involve those wedding guests who can’t make it to your wedding? Have them download the WeddingMix app and our interview questions so they can offer marriage advice for your wedding. Check out last week’s post on how to get the lighting right as well.
Here are 3 quick tips to sound like a pro when filming an interview:
- Turn down or move away from any background music
- Step away from air conditioners or refrigerators
- Tell your cameraman to shut up while filming
Turn Down the Mood Music
If you’re at an event, there’s usually loud music or just people talking around you. If you want to get that super sweet interview with Grandma as she tells the secrets of her 50 year marriage to Grandpa, your best bet is to go into the lobby of your venue. When you watch that interview later, you’d like to actually be able to hear her.
Unplug
Electricity isn’t always a good thing. Move away from refrigerators or air conditioners. They’ll create a hum in the background which may make it hard to hear. If you must film near a fridge, go ahead and unplug it. I heard a great tip so you remember to plug it back in. Put your car keys in the fridge. Grabbing the cold keys will remind you to plug it back in!
Quiet on the Set!
Tell your cameraman that now is not the time for narration. You really don’t need him talking with his buddies while holding the camera, nor do you need a color commentary on what’s going on in front of the camera. We can work a lot of magic in the editing room, but taking out one particular voice is beyond the magic of computers.
