How to Tell Your Own ‘Love Story’ Through Your Wedding Music
Editor’s Note: Today’s post is brought to you by super cool husband and wife, Tom and Carol of TCB Mobile Entertainment, who offer their professional mobile DJ company and unique musical insight to create a personalized wedding DJ service called Love Story.
When we meet our couples at an initial consultation, we introduce the idea of the Love Story. The Love Story is an introduction above the ordinary, which encapsulates how they met and the memorable events that lead to the first date, proposal, engagement and wedding day. Our couples understand that we work thorough personal interaction with them, thereby getting to know them as we personalize their wedding.
We send 5 questions to each of them (to be answered separately). This is fun because quite often their perception of what took place differ somewhat between them. From those answers, I create the draft of their story and additional information or clarification is obtained in a follow up interview with each of them.
A great love story should have tidbits that no one else knows apart from the bride and groom themselves.
How they met and dated, some of their favorite things to do, places they like to go, and how much ground they covered just to be together. This is the part that reveals obstacles, challenges, strategies and even the assistance of matchmaking friends!
Moments should include the very first impression upon meeting, their first date, how each other perceived the proposal. If the bride expected the proposal, the fiancé had to be creative in coming up with a surprising and a romantic event. (The detail here is ALWAYS good for a touching or moving story experience.)
The groom’s mother may not have known that her son got on one knee or that he ran several blocks because he forgot to purchase flowers. The Maid of Honor may not have known that the bride had her own secret fears of what was going to take place on the night when the groom said “we need to talk tonight.” She may not have told her exactly how she felt at the moment, or she may not have known exactly what her fiancé was feeling such as ’the beads of sweat’, or what he was thinking to himself just seconds before. Details such as these create the interest factor. The oohs, ahhs, awes, laughter, and tears will be achieved with vocal tone, execution and presentation.
We like to keep our stories to a 3 minute time frame. Although we promote it as a Love Story Introduction, it can be used during dinner. Factors such as the couple’s preference, the venue management, the story’s content, and even the reception activities play a part in the best placement for the love story.
One of the most rewarding things is to look out and see the reactions and hear the responses from the guests, and also the bride and groom who is hearing their story for the first time themselves. They are sincerely touched, and appreciative of the way their story was presented.
Check out the Love Story which was read at Jose and Lauren’s wedding:
