You Gotta See this Fire Dancer Engagement Party in Chicago

Kate and her fiance, Chad, decided to have turn up the heat on their Chicago engagement party! With the perfect venue location and WeddingMix, the couple’s created amazingly personalized wedding video through the perspective of all their family and friends!

Bride-to-be Kate is getting married next month, but does that mean she’s waiting to celebrate? HECK NO!

My fiancé Chad & I are going to be married 33 days from today! This past year that we’ve been engaged easily has been one of the best of our lives. The outpouring of love and support from our family & friends has truly been moving and has made us so excited to spend the rest of our lives together.

Four days after we were engaged, Chad & I went to a Masquerade and Fancy Ball hosted by our friends at The Secret Gentlemen’s Club. They were fundraising to create art for the annual Lakes of Fire festival in Lucky Lake, MI and were auctioning off the use of one of the event spaces at Lacuna Artist Loft Studios in Chicago. Naturally, we jumped at the chance to get to throw an engagement party in one of the best artistic venues in the entire city with gorgeous rooftop views of downtown!

Some of our closest family members and best friends flew in for the weekend and got to meet so many of the people who have touched our lives in Chicago. We spent the morning at Bike The Drive and later went over to Lacuna for the party. Our favorite local CSA Edible Alchemy and its army of volunteers helped make and serve all of the food, our friends from Chicago Fire Tribe and Pyrotechniq put on a fire performance and my Starter League HTML instructor Mike Gibson was the DJ. We had so much fun at our party and are thrilled that we were able to take WeddingMix for a test drive that weekend.

Protip: we learned that you can take photos & videos and upload them later through the app instead of trying to use the app to take pictures. It’s easy to figure out & the upload times were pretty quick from my iPhone. Plus, it cuts down on the awkward moments, like when your mom tries to take a photo through the app but films a short video instead.

Chad & I will be missing Bike The Drive this year because we’ll be busy doing some final preparations for our wedding in New York on May 31.
