How they met & got engaged
Ryan and I met at a coffee shop in the Southside Works neighborhood of Pittsburgh about 3 1/2 years ago. On our first date we went to the movies, and I remember thinking he was really shy, but the more we got to know each other- the more we clicked.
We got engaged in North Myrtle Beach, at a condo overlooking the ocean. We’d gone on vacation to celebrate my graduation from law school, and he caught me totally by surprise. We had just gone out to a nice dinner, where he was planning on proposing, but the Stanley Cup Finals were on at the restaurant’s bar, so we ended up siting there and watching the game for most of dinner. I came back from dinner and changed into PJs to sit on the porch- I was that unaware that he was going to propose!
Let the Wedding Planning begin!
We’re DIYing our own table decorations for the wedding. Our reception is at the Heinz History Center in downtown Pittsburgh, and we found a man who was selling vintage postcards- some of them were even mailed- dating back to 1906 that have scenes of Pittsburgh on them, and he sold us a bunch at a very reasonable price. We’re going to display those on the tables in simple frames, as well as some candles and flower arrangements.
I think my favorite moment of being engaged was our cake tasting. It was one of the first things we planned together, and it went very smoothly- we decided to get four mini-cakes instead of having to choose just one flavor. We’re both pretty laid back and compromise easily- so that part was really fun for us to pick out. I also have both my bridal shower and bachelorette party coming up, and I’d love to be able to capture some of those moments.
How will WeddingMix help capture those moments?
We have some family that won’t be able to attend our wedding, and we’d love to be able to share with them a fun, short video of our reception and some of the preparation events leading up to it- like my bridal shower, for example.
