Surprise Sunset Proposal + Darling DIY Wedding Planning

Bryan is originally from Cleveland and was in Columbus for one night for a bachelor party. I was out with my friends celebrating my birthday. I saw this cute guy at the bar and we started talking. He was funny and sweet, so we exchanged phone numbers. We talked on the phone every day and saw each other again for the first time a month later. We then proceeded to have a long distance relationship with one of us driving 2 hours to see the other person for a year and a half before Bryan moved to Columbus.

The Surprise Proposal 🙂

Bryan and I went to Cleveland for the weekend to visit. We were staying with friends who had plans that night, so Bryan suggested we go to the beach and watch the sunset. When we got to the beach, got ice cream, and then walked on the sand. We found a place to sit and relax. I was eating my ice cream as Bryan was getting impatient. I couldn’t understand why. Once I was done eating, we were talking and before I knew it he was down on one knee! I realized afterward that he was so impatient because our friends (who I thought had plans) were actually on the beach taking pictures of our engagement.

The best part about it was I had no idea that he was going to propose and I actually carried my ring around in my purse for 3 hours. Bryan hid it in his glasses case which he put in my purse and I never even knew.

Any DIY wedding projects coming up?

Our entire wedding has been DIY. I have made everything from our invitations to our table numbers to my veil. I really didn’t want to sacrifice what I wanted because we were trying to save money so I figured out ways to make everything I wanted myself to save money. Some parts have been a little difficult but in the end knowing that I made everything makes the day even more special.

A lot of the moments of our engagement, like our shower and all the things we made will be captured in our scrapbook. We are really excited to capture some many moments of our wedding with WeddingMix!
