Fairytale Wedding in Portland
Bride Britni’s wedding celebration was a real life fairytale! Don’t miss her exception big day and amazing outdoor inspiration! AND make sure to check out her and her hubby’s Portland wedding video!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
The part of the wedding we are most proud of pulling all of the pieces together, especially the centerpieces! We decided to make our wedding complicated by doing a Disney theme and making each centerpiece a different Disney movie.
We spent months making and finding pieces for each centerpiece and ended up with 22 individual and very unique centerpieces! It took us a long time, there was a lot of stress and a lot of trips to craft stores but we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, it was perfect!
We are also very proud of how unique our wedding was. We chose to include parts from all of our favorite movies and fandoms to make or wedding personal. The ring bearer was a hobbit and my vows were written in a Harry Potter journal. Not to mention all of the colors! We chose to have 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen each in different colors! We also put all of the colors on the chairs for the ceremony and reception. Walking down the aisle was like walking into a Disney cartoon, it was amazing!
2.Where did you get married?
We got married at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. McMenamins is a very unique restaurant chain in the Pacific Northwest that buys old buildings like schools and Masonic lodges and turns them into restaurants and hotels. Edgefield used to be a poor farm and now has about 6 different bars, two restaurants, a winery, a brewery, a distillery, a golf course, a concert lawn, and a hotel!
We have always loved McMenamins and have been to many of their locations around Oregon and Washington filling up our McMenamins passports with stamps from each location. For our unity ceremony, we got the “Married at McMenamins” stamp, which had never been done during a ceremony before! We were so happy with our venue and couldn’t imagine having our special day anywhere else!
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
We knew we wanted a video of our big day, but we didn’t want to spend $3000-$5000 on a videographer. Looking at the example videos on the WeddingMix website made us realize how much we liked the candid look of the videos more than the polished look that you get from videographers, it was more personal in a way. We also like how we would get the day from different angles and different people. Not to mention the price couldn’t be beat!
4. What special moments from your wedding do you want to remember forever?
We really wanted to make sure we recorded our wedding ceremony. We’ve been talking about getting married for 3 years and to finally be there on the day was so surreal. To be able to have it on video and relive it is so amazing! There were little hiccups; almost forgetting the rings, the McMenamins representative not knowing it was time for the stamp ceremony. But those little moments made our ceremony even better because it fit us so well!
We also wanted to remember the little things. Words from our friends, looks we gave each other, hugs from our parents. We know there’s no way we could capture it all but remembering those little moments makes our memories of the day so special!
5. How did WeddingMix help capture those moments?
WeddingMix allowed our guests to be a part of the wedding and to get our ceremony from all different angles. We had one person recording the ceremony with our GoPro and another camera, but getting those candid shots from within the guests is so different from other wedding videos, and so personal! We love the shots that we got of the ceremony and of our guests at the reception!
