Guest Post: Finding the right dress for your rustic wedding – Shelley Heavens
Welcome back to Storymix, Blogger Bride Shelley, whose search for a vintage wedding dress led her to an awesome designer as well as a custom-made masterpiece.
Choosing the right rustic wedding dress is one of the most special moments in planning a small rustic country-wedding. As all of you have read, from my previous post, our wedding will take place at Bass Lake near Bruce Mines Ontario on September 02, 2012.
For me personally, I love all things vintage, particularly from the 1950s. Therefore Joseph and I decided to go with that era as a theme in our wedding attire.
I personally love the 1950s silhouette, as it really was a time where women knew how to dress and make the most out of their body types. So, onto the internet I searched, and I’m so glad I found Lizzie Jayne!
At Lizzie Jayne I was introduced to a stunning collection of 1950s inspired tea length wedding dresses. Taking inspiration from the 1950s and throwing in a modern twist, Lizzie’s collection challenges tradition and creates a style for the more adventurous bride, such as myself. Based in London, with worldwide shipping, each Lizzie Jayne dress is made to order by Lizzie, enabling every Lizzie Jayne bride to get her dream dress in fit, style and colour.
Through the Lizzie Jayne blog you can learn more about wedding dress designer Lizzie and her beautiful dresses. Taking the time to share her design process and the making of her unique dresses, you can watch each dress take shape as I have with my own and share the happiness of each real life bride who wears them.
When designing my beautiful wedding dress, Lizzie and I chose a lovely Broderie Anglais material that would complement my rustic/vintage wedding theme. I decided on one of Lizzie’s original dress designs, adding a customized white and blue Fancy Freckle sash and a white petticoat with matching blue trim that made my wedding dress complete.
Lizzie Jayne (and her mum) also designed a full set of yellow button bouquets and button holes to complement our theme.
I am totally in LOVE with my dress and bouquets and cannot wait to wear it on my special rustic wedding day!
