Advice from the bride!

1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?

We were most proud of all the DIY aspects and how personal our wedding was. Both my husband and I love creating and building things so our wedding would be nothing different!

After a couple months we definitely began to realize why people pay more for inclusive venues and coordinators but knowing we did everything ourselves (with the help of our loved one) makes looking back on our big day that much more meaningful!

2. Where did you get married?

We got married at the When Words Count Retreat in Rochester, Vermont. We actually found it on Airbnb! We were looking for a large space to house all of our wedding party that was also beautiful enough to host the wedding itself right in the backyard.

It was the perfect location for what we had in mind and had such quaint homes nearby that our family and friends really enjoyed.

3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?

4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?

Definitely the speeches and our first dance. My little sister sang for our first dance ( Etta James- At Last…..great song) and re-watching that video STILL makes me cry!

5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?

1) KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING. It is easy to get ahead of yourself especially because little things do add up so quickly. Keep a notebook, a spreadsheet…whatever you have to do to stay on top of your spending.

2) Utilize family and friends for crafts and wedding stuff- it not only saves you time but usually everyone is so excited and more than willing to help if you ask! Things at retail cost are quite absurd and I am sure most people are more handy than they think they are!

3) Last but not least, make a husband and wife “MUST” list. By that I mean: what can you not live without on your special day? What does your husband value the most? So that way when it comes down to the wire you- both you and your significant other can make some hard decisions more readily without as much frustration.
