Her wedding was the gold standard for big city ceremonies with gorgeous photos, and an abundance of killer food. Hear her read personalized vows, and see the most adorable grandfather-daughter dance in her wedding video below!
This fun wedding video was shot by the bride and groom’s guests. They had a fabulous time capturing the day with their own cameras along with the WeddingMix app.
Using WeddingMix was an appealing option for our day because we wanted a wedding video so we could look back on our wedding without blowing our budget. We loved the idea of having friends/family film our day and seeing our wedding from their perspective. You miss a lot of what is going on being the bride and groom and allowing your guests to film their experience from their perspective was exciting for us. We also liked that it was more low key and almost like a home video. It fit the style of our wedding well.”-Kelsey

Advice from the bride!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
The part of the wedding planning I am most proud of is all of the food we had at our wedding. We are a couple who LOVES food so we tried to make all our food choices things we would love to eat. We loved our caterer Hearty Boys who really helped bring our vision to life with the appetizers during cocktail hour to dinner. We had a local food truck from the Chicago Suburbs drive into the city for a late night snack for our guests. They served up hot dogs and shaved Hawaiian ice. YUM! We decided against a cake for donuts instead. We had little bags for the guests to bring home donuts if they wanted them for the morning as well.
2. Where did you get married?
We got married in Chicago, IL at Ovation
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
Using WeddingMix was an appealing option for our day because we wanted a wedding video so we could look back on our wedding without blowing our budget. We loved the idea of having friends/family film our day and seeing our wedding from their perspective.
You miss a lot of what is going on being the bride and groom and allowing your guests to film their experience from their perspective was exciting for us. We also liked that it was more low key and almost like a home video. It fit the style of our wedding well.
4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?
Some of the most important moments WeddingMix captured for us was our vows and my dance with my grandfather. We aren’t always the most vocal couple when it comes to sharing feelings but knew that our vows at our wedding would be important to us.
So allowing us to have this captured on film as well as with excellent sound quality gives us a chance to listen and relive this moment in years to come. You can really hear and see our feelings from that moment which I will cherish.
Something that was very meaningful to me to have captured was my dance with my grandfather. My father passed away when I was a 8 and my grandfather has been the role model and father figure for me growing up. It meant the world to me to have him dance with me at my wedding for my father/daughter dance. And as he is getting older now, this is something I can watch and look back on forever.
5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?
I think my top tip for wedding budgeting is to first find out what is the most important to you for your day. You are not going to please everyone so make sure your putting your money into things that matter to you. For us that was food and making sure we had a great photographer/video.
The little things no one will remember so we tried to save money where we could. We got frames from the goodwill and spray painted them for the table numbers. We tried to craft what we could to save money on decorations. We also hunted on a lot of wedding websites and Facebook for items other people were selling. This saved us a lot of money and almost everything is only used once on there.
We made our flowers low key and opted for balloons as a backdrop instead of flowers. Overall weddings are expensive so saving money on little things (even if its a few bucks) adds up in the end.
Your guests wont know or remember if your table numbers were bought from someone else or that you didn’t have a menu card at each place setting. What they will remember is their feelings on your day and if they had a great time.
