Beautiful Blended Backgrounds Wedding Video in Boston| Amanda + Steve
I am totally biased when it comes to love. You see, my all time FAVORITE kind of love stories are those about two people from totally different backgrounds end up falling in love and living happily ever after. Take Amanda and Steve’s gorgeous Boston wedding video as a great example.
We caught up with Amanda to get the story behind her and Steve’s wedding, as well as all the amazing WeddingMix footage captured within their Boston wedding video!
Steve and I got married on a beautiful spring day in Boston, MA. Like many brides, I stressed about the weather for the weeks and days leading up to our wedding. Our ceremony and cocktail hour were outside and our reception was in a tent overlooking the Boston skyline, so I knew the beauty of the day would best be caught with sunny skies. We got extremely lucky with the most picture perfect day! The ceremony was on the lawn of the Hyatt Boston Harbor and the reception took place in their large tent with perfect views of the boats passing by and the evening sunset.
I’m most proud of how our wedding blended two backgrounds. I grew up in Virginia and met my husband, a Massachusetts native, through my best friend (and maid of honor). They are first cousins, so it was truly a family gathering. My family is Jewish, so my brother read a prayer in Hebrew, we got married under a chuppah and danced the hora! Steve’s family is Catholic and we included a special family reading and gifted a framed version of Corinthians to his parents. We had friends and family join us from all over the country and the world and our guests embraced all the food, fun and laughter that came with our big day. Most importantly, we never took ourselves too seriously. Steve fibbed on a small part of his vows and I laughed away and Steve’s best man included a hilarious group activity in his heart-warming speech.
Knowing how wedding budgets get out of hand, we tried hard to splurge on the things that really mattered to us and compromise on those that were less significant. For us, this meant more simple flowers and small centerpieces, plain napkins and a dj rather than a band. But one thing many people told us was that they regretted not having any video from their wedding.
Unfortunately, videographers ran thousands of dollars in our area and we didn’t have the funds to splurge on one. That’s when WeddingMix saved the day. I had read about the service on Pinterest and decided it was worth a shot, knowing how tech0savvy many of our friends are. I assigned my Maid of Honor’s boyfriend to record the ceremony, had the bridal party pass the camera throughout the cocktail hour and reception and asked an old friend to cover the toasts.
All in all, we were so thrilled with the results! So many people got into it and in the end, we felt that we had a video which was not only authentic and representative of the day, but in line with our budget and our priority to not take ourselves too seriously. We also loved being able to decide what was included and can’t wait to share it with family and friends.
In a word, our wedding was incredible 🙂
