1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?

We are most proud of having an untraditional wedding. Family and friends will definitely pressure you to include certain traditional moments in your wedding, but we chose to follow our hearts no matter what. We had a nonreligious ceremony and did not have a wedding party, flower girl, or ring bearer. I wore an embroidered eggplant colored dress, we ordered our cake from Walmart, I walked down the aisle alone, and we served brunch for dinner at our reception. My mother used to be a florist, so she made my vision for a cascading bouquet come true and spruced up the wedding cake with white roses. My ring is gold with a chocolate diamond and my husband’s ring is silver. I also opted to not wear a wedding band because I didn’t think that it complimented my ring. We wanted the wedding to reflect who we are and felt that it was most important to do what your heart desires. I was a bit nervous about what our guests would think, but they loved it.Brunch was the biggest hit!

2. Where did you get married?

We had our wedding at Bristow Manor in Bristow, VA. We were originally going to elope, but changed our minds at the last minute. After spending a few weekends searching for a venue that would compliment a 25 guest wedding, we found Bristow Manor. The property was gorgeous and they were the most flexible venue that we viewed! Their wonderful staff took the pressure off of planning and allowed us to be ourselves.

4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?

WeddingMix was able to capture my husband dance and smile. He is very shy and not much of a dancer, so I was happy to see how much fun he was having and surprised to see him bust a move for about 5 minutes. He set a new record for himself. We also had a black kitten randomly join us during the ceremony. This was hilarious because the kitten kept crawling around our feet and hopped away after a few seconds.
