Real advice from the bride and groom!

1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of making all the floral centerpieces, bouquets, flowers for the pergola and cookies for the take home gifts with my mom and neighbor. It was fun to spend that time together with my mom and also saved us some money!

2. Where did you get married?

We got married at Bull Run Golf Club in Haymarket, VA, with an outdoor ceremony in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?

WeddingMix was appealing for your big day because it wasn’t in our budget to hire a videographer, but we still wanted a video of our wedding day. WeddingMix fit into the budget and seemed like a fun way to capture the day through our family and friends!

4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?

The most important moment WeddingMix was able to capture was our ceremony. We wrote our own vows to each other and wanted to be able to watch them back for years to come. We had one of our friends in charge of making sure all the cameras were passed out during the ceremony to ensure it was captured.

After the ceremony the cameras were just passed around and many people used the app. Having our friends and family record was a hit and there wasn’t one moment during our wedding that wasn’t captured. The entire ceremony was filmed, along with our first look, introductions, the first dance, parent dances, cake cutting, speeches and all the good and bad moves out on the dance floor!

5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?

My top wedding budget tip is to make as much of the decor for the wedding as you feel comfortable making, but to also know when to just buy something. We made the centerpieces, bouquets, flowers for the pergola and other decorations, such as chalk board signs saved us a lot of money.

Our neighbor even offered to bring props and set up a background to take pictures with the props, which was a huge hit. I also made business cards from Vistaprint into escort cards and made our response cards into postcards, which saved on paper and postage. We also didn’t want our wedding party spending a fortune on their outfits, so I found a dress I liked on Amazon for $29.99 and my bridesmaids loved it. One even wore it for an event prior to the wedding.
