1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?

We wanted to DIY parts of our wedding, and the amount of help we got from family and friends to put our vision together was amazing! We were incredibly lucky with how many people could help us; we had the Bride’s mother making the wedding cake, the groom’s mother making the jewelry for the wedding party and the bridesmaids doubled up as make up artists and flower arrangers! We are incredibly grateful to all of our helpers and can not believe how well everything came together!

2. Where did you get married?

We got married in Ottawa, Canada. We had our ceremony at St Michael’s Church out in Carp. Our reception was held at Stonefiled’s Heritage Farm located just outside of Carleton Place.

We chose our venue because we wanted to have a classy country theme to our wedding. We had people attending from the UK so wanted them to see the beautiful countryside surrounding the City and having a Heritage Farm with a gorgeous barn they had just rebuilt with Chandeliers and an expanse of gardens and woodland just captured exactly what we wanted.

3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?

One thing that I kept reading about a Bride’s biggest regret after their wedding was not having a videographer. We hadn’t factored into our budget having a videographer and then I came across WeddingMix which seemed such a fun way to involve our guests and it didn’t break our budget! We loved the idea of seeing our wedding through our guests perspectives, as well as being able to have 70 different videographers instead of just the one! It was nice to be able to include our guests in something so special, and we had so much fun reliving our big day watching the footage that our guests had recorded.

4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?

There were so many! Some of which we hadn’t thought of, like panaroma’s of our guests during cocktail hour while and the dancing, it’s not everyday you can see both your families and friends doing the Macarena! As well as being able to relive impromptu moments, such as when our page boy sang ‘Can you feel the love tonight’ on a whim over dinner to all our guest and all our guests joining in a rendition of ‘I will always love you’ at the end of our speech! Of course being able to watch the bride entering the church and seeing the grooms reaction up close, saying our vows and listening to all the speeches again really gets you to relive the moment!

5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?

Keep things simple and spend your budget on the aspects of your wedding which matters most, you don’t have to do everything! We bypassed the champagne toast and used every day items as part of our decor, as well as being fortunate enough to have enough helpers to bulk buy flowers from Costco and put them together ourselves. We kept things like the favours simple, as one fellow bride had told me how much effort she had put into their favors and how disappointing it is to see most of them left at the end as people had forgotten about them.
