Advice from the Bride!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
Our wedding was very nontraditional for our families. We had a dinner at a local restaurant as our reception. There was no music and no dancing, and most of the normal traditions our families normally do at weddings were skipped. But it was amazing and I wouldn’t change anything about it. It was so intimate and lively. Everyone was eating, drinking, and having fun. One of my uncles said it was hands down the best wedding he had ever attended. That comment alone left us thrilled.
2. Where did you get married?
We were married at the Japanese Friendship Garden located in Brand Park in Glendale, California.
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
WeddingMix was not only very budget friendly, but it allowed us to use our family and friends as the videographers. Raul’s brother who is normally very serious and reserved was like a new man with that camera in his hand. He was smiling and laughing with everyone doing his best to capture all the festivities.
4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?
So we goofed and forgot to assign someone to film the actual ceremony. But we were able to capture other special moments. My sister filmed all of the bridesmaids and I getting ready. Raul’s brother filmed the entire reception, and went around asking all of our guests to say a little something for us. He even got up close and personal during the cake cutting. Other guests filmed the speeches, bouquet toss, and garter throw.
5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?
Don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for suggestions and help. We found our amazing baker through my cousin who happens to be friends with Marileen. The cake was amazing honestly, I never eat wedding cake and I loved every bite. I also found our amazing ceremony venue through advice from a friend. It was honestly a steal, because it is owned by the local parks. We were so happy with the Japanese Friendship Garden.
