Advice from Cari and Ami!

1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?

We loved adding the small, personal details to show off both of our personalities and the love we share. The anchor guest book was a hit and looks great in our home, it’s something we’ll always cherish from our wedding day! Also, the favors we chose with the personalized sunglasses for our guests to not be “blinded by our love” haha to the koozies each guest ended the night with a bottle of water, it was us and practical all in one. Of course we did love being able to add these and other personal touches without spending a fortune!

Amy created such beautiful yet simplistic centerpieces using blue sparkly vases, a single white flower, set upon a mirror that our guests loved and took, yet hardly cost us anything. I loved being able to surprise Amy at our first look with the personal touch added to my custom suit, and a message on the inside just for her. The fact that we created our dream wedding and made it a reality was amazing!

2. Where did you get married?

Golden Sands Condominiums in Ocean City, MD. It was equal distance from the places in PA we each grew up for our guests traveling from those parts, yet at the beach as we both had dreamed of since we were little girls. The fact that they handled all aspects of the ceremony, reception, food, and alcohol in house was great and easier to coordinate. The plan was to have the ceremony on their private beach area, cocktail hour on the deck at the tiki bar, followed with the reception on the 22nd floor with an amazing view overlooking the ocean and a skylight to gaze into through the night.

Thankfully, we’re both laid back and agreed nothing could ruin our happiness for the day because it poured all morning moving all activities indoors on the 22nd floor utilizing the reception area and the Teddy Roosevelt room next door to accommodate the guests. And there wasn’t an ounce of sadness because our day was spent surrounded by those who love and support us and everything was beautifully amazing and amazingly beautiful, just like my wife! Plus, we got to get redressed on Sunday because of course there was beautiful weather the day we were leaving, to take pictures on the beach and include our puppy who was all set to be apart of our wedding with her new dress, collar, and leash!

3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?

Affordability while being able to capture our big day through the eyes of our guests yet still having professional assistance on the back end to create a video of our wedding made it a no brainer!

Everything! 5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?

We may not have the best advice in that department as we focused on making our dreams a reality and then worked them into our budget and made adjustments as needed. Planning a wedding is stressful enough so we took advice of others and just relaxed and made sure it was the best day of our life because there’s no need to impress others, instead impress yourselves by creating the day of our dreams! We also have had great communication from day one (our first date was 9 hours long, if that doesn’t tell you something haha) so we respected and listened to each other and worked together to make it happen.

Don’t forget to factor in the last minute add ons when totaling your budget and don’t be afraid to use the talents and service of friends and family to cut costs when and where you can. If you’re unable to do something you originally had planned, don’t sweat it because no one but you will notice it’s missing.

Lastly, think of all the weddings you’ve attended and what stuck out the most to you as a guest because chances are if you don’t recall every detail of every centerpiece or whatever detail it may be, it probably isn’t worth splurging on that area and putting the money to better use elsewhere.
