Where Have You Been All My Life? (Our Story)
It’s always extra special when we find love in unexpected places. As for me, the bride, the love of my life and my future husband was right by my side for most of my high school years even though I didn’t know it back then. I first met Greg as a young teenager when his family moved into my neighborhood. In high school, we were just casual acquaintances but then we became good friends. “We were simply friends, no dating,” Tania insists. “If you had told us then that we’d marry each other in the future, we probably wouldn’t have believed you!” After our senior year, Greg and I were closer than close, but after graduation we both went off to college and went our separate ways. I went to Community College while he attended culinary school and the distance really put a wedge between us. Eventually, we lost touch altogether until one evening, many years later, when we bumped into one another again at a nightclub called FIRST FRIDAYS. When we reconnected, we also rekindled our unmistakable bond and a new chapter in our story began.
Our wedding was a true representation of all the things we loved. Good food, beautiful people, lots of dancing and tons of fun. We picked our venue because 1) it was within the city limits of where we lived; and 2) we wanted somewhere that the majority of your guests can stay onsite, or location we could host multiple events over a weekend. Besides, our gut feeling gave us a sense of ease as we entered. And that’s when we knew immediately it was right. Additionally, it offered such a clean space to let our imagination run wild. This made our decision even easier, so when it came time to book, it was a no-brainer. We told our planner and the hotel catering director, what we wanted and they made it happen. We loved the look of all gold, ivory and white with touches of burgundy — clean, timeless, elegant and our vendors made it just that. The planning process was so fun and the day was so magical, we wish we could do it over & over again.
Wedding Style
In my everyday life, I like to always have a look of clean & polished with a touch of bling, so for my wedding, I didn’t stray too far. I knew from the moment that I tried on my gown that it was made for my body type. The bling & the detail is what I loved most, so it was important to incorporate that with my hair, my shoes and my make-up. Classic, timeless, elegant and BLING!
Most Memorable Moment
Seeing each other for the first time was like magic. Greg hadn’t seen my dress at all, so I was so excited for that moment. The moment I entered the ballroom his & saw his face, tears came streaming from both of our eyes. Because of his job, I am not used to seeing him in a suit, but to see him in his tuxedo and to see the look on his face when he saw me was a moment that I will never forget!
Loving You is So Easy
From the Groom…Greg says I wear my heart on my sleeve and that I always come from a place of love in all that I do. And that’s one of the things he loves most about me.
From the Bride…The way that he loves me. All of me; my imperfections and all….
Wedding Planning Process
My husband and I decided early on to wait at least one year between our engagement and wedding. My husband said he knew we would hit some friction points over wedding planning so he suggested we start the process very early. I, on the other hand, preferred to have some leisure time in the process so that we can actually enjoy it. We didn’t want to let any pressure build up because it increases the chance that unresolved conflicts might come between us. But for the most part, I have to stay there are a few key things that have really helped me during the planning process. The first was picking the right wedding workbook and planning materials. After searching, I managed to find a company online that offered a FREE wedding planner kit! It didn’t matter to me if it was a massive book as long as I had something to store all the writing, tips and advice, (not to mention all those checklists) to help us plan the perfect day. The second best move we made was finding Ashley Broskey to do our day of ceremony coordination and was impressed from the beginning. We had a couple of options but there was no competition after we met and spoke to her. She is very sweet, professional, organized and just a delight to work with. She helped couples like us that had no idea how to make a wedding happen find our vision and create a gorgeous ceremony. I suggest that if you’re going through the planning process to find and hire someone to help you with decorations, printable and getting everything coordinated. It’s important to have someone who can help and has an eye for design and color choices too!
Wedding Advice
Don’t assume anything! First ask each other how much control you each want over the wedding decision-making. In other words, talk to each other and understand clearly what each of you would prefer. Most couples assume they will share equally, but in reality, one person usually assumes more control. Don’t get too complicated. Keep it simple but elegant. Hire or assign a wedding coordinator and caterer that can work together. By all means don’t be afraid to delegate.
I love reliving your wedding over and over again! Such an amazing day with beautiful details! Congratulations on the feature you deserve it!
