3 Flawless Fall Wedding Favor Ideas For Every Autumn Bride
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
I would say our ceremony and vows. We are both more spiritual than religious, but wanted to bring in some traditions from each of the religions represented in our family (Christianity and Hinduism).
We wrote our ceremony ourselves and included traditional Hindu elements like exchanging garlands and taking seven steps together and Christian elements like exchanging our own vows and rings. We also had my aunt explain everything that was happening during the ceremony and a lot of guests told us that following along through the traditions was their favorite part of the day.
2. Where did you get married?
We had our ceremony at the Roofless Church in New Harmony, Indiana and our reception at the Old Post Office Plaza in Evansville, Indiana.
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
The low-cost was definitely an important factor. Additionally, we both knew our families and knew whether or not we hired a professional videographer, guests would have their own cameras out capturing the event. Videos were being taken to be messaged to India to family that couldn’t make it to the wedding, we knew WeddingMix would help us collect all those captured memories and synthesize them in a beautiful way.
4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?
Looking back at the videos that were captured, my favorites were my mother-in-law singing before the ceremony. We went back and forth about when she should sing and decided to let her kick off the ceremony to help set the tone and allow her to get it done before the tears started flowing during the ceremony.
Unfortunately, that meant that I was going to miss it, since I was waiting in a car to make sure the groom didn’t see me before walking down the aisle. Having that captured and shared was really important to me. I also loved all the dancing videos. The reception was a whirlwind and we missed some of those dancing circles and amazing moves!
5. What is your top wedding budget tip(s)?
We tried to be thoughtful about where we could cut corners: my mom’s friend did all of our reception decorations and they were absolutely incredible. I’m not sure if everyone has a connection to someone who is as talented and willing to dedicate so much timing to wedding planning as Theresa Chavez was, but if you do, it made our reception feel special and filled with love. We also didn’t use professional flowers in our centerpieces and that made a huge cost difference. Finally, our ceremony venue was really beautiful naturally, so we didn’t really decorate at all.
