Wonderful Wedding at Riverbed in WI
200+, Local, Chic, Midwest, Historic VenueCongratulations to the bride and groom! They took their stroll down the aisle at their wonderful wedding at Riverbed in Wisconsin. With the natural scenery of the venue, their ceremony was a quaint, romantic occasion. Hear some hilarious toasts, and even see the bride give an epic drum solo in their video below!
This fun WeddingMix video was filmed at Makenzie and Jake’s wedding. These exciting moments were captured by their family and friends, who used their own cameras along with the WeddingMix app and rental cameras.
For Jake and I we really wanted to capture our ceremony, vows and speeches. I was very nervous about how this would be captured by guests, however out photographer was able to bring an assistant who was able to walk around with one of our cameras. Also, the mic that is available for rent via the website IS A LIFESAVER! Seriously the sound that we have on our speeches is amazing. You can pick out certain individuals laughs, it is amazing. If you are having doubts, I definitely recommend getting the mic. ” – Makenzie

Real advice from the bride and groom!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
Honestly, I think I am most proud of just making it through wedding planning. We had a pretty stressful start to planning and our venue coordinator ended up double booking ballrooms etc, so making it through that experience was great. I am also very proud of the fact that Jake and I planned a lot of the wedding together.
We definitely have different strengths or things we preferred to take care of for our wedding so we were able to divide some of the planning and conquer it together. I hate hearing the stories from the groom saying he just showed up and did what he was told. I really wanted my vision, as well as my future husband’s to really come alive. I only intend on doing this once!
2. Where did you get married?
Jake and I were married in Kohler, WI at the old Governor’s Mansion now called Riverbend. Following the ceremony here had our reception at Blue Harbor Resort and Conference center.
Although we did have a few minor issues with our first wedding coordinator, our second wedding coordinator at Blue Harbor was amazing. I seriously can not express enough how amazing she was.
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
Jake and I wanted a more personal touch to our wedding video. We wanted to see what our guests were seeing and the things they were experiencing instead of having only one videographer capture a one dimensional view. Looking back at the footage, there are definitely some aspects that may have been better shown with a videographer, but the footage captured by our guests completely outweighs those aspects.
4. What were the most important moments that WeddingMix was able to capture on your special day?
For Jake and I we really wanted to capture our ceremony, vows and speeches. I was very nervous about how this would be captured by guests, however out photographer was able to bring an assistant who was able to walk around with one of our cameras.
Also, the mic that is available for rent via the website IS A LIFESAVER! Seriously the sound that we have on our speeches is amazing. You can pick out certain individuals laughs, it is amazing. If you are having doubts, I definitely recommend getting the mic.
5. What is your top wedding budget tip?
I think my top wedding tip is to not over plan or over control. The people that you are working with, for example your florist, do this for a living. They may have a better eye for color, they may have worked with your venue and have some suggestions for what looks best.
I recommend going into appointments with a vision and ideas about color but be sure to use the expertise of whoever it is you’re working with.
6. What was your guest count and wedding budget?
We had about 325 guests but didn’t have a specific hard budget. With every vendor that needed to be booked, Jake and I looked at reviews, price, availability and then made the best choice for us with the information that we had.
Vendor shout out!
- I would love to give a shout out to A.E. Photography in Manitowoc, WI. She has an incredibly eye for detail, she is so fun to work with and comes back with incredible pictures.
- I also want to shout out Blue Harbor in Sheboygan, WI. Again, they did a wonderful job attending to our guests. We had one guest that was looking for an area to breastfeed her son and the wedding coordinator brought back a room key. She let our guest use the room for the entire night.
- Finally, Riverbend in Kohler, WI is gorgeous. Hopefully our video captures just how beautiful this place is!
